The digital world offers huge opportunity for businesses, but only if it's approached as strategically as any other marketing, with solid goals and objectives. We help clients work out which digital tools are going to do the job, and just how they should be using them.

Creative concepting

Our team has won heaps accolades and awards for creative, but what we really love is attention-grabbing work that's perfectly on brand and targeted too. That's why we come up with creative solutions but we don't enter creative awards - we want our teams to develop ideas that are going to win our clients more business, not Gold Lions.

Traditional media production

We love all that whizz-bang digital stuff, but if a more traditional approach is going to work best for our client, then we can produce things like print, radio and telly ads, flyers, posters, outdoor and direct mail.

Web and mobile development

We treat mobile games and apps, and web development like we would any communications push - we always start with a whole bunch of questions. What are you trying to achieve and who do you want to use it? It means we can create apps that will do the job right.

Social media measurement

Spending money and time on marketing with no measurement is a bit like learning to sail your new boat and then setting off without a compass. Using Neilson's BuzzMetrics system, we can track campaigns and conversations people are having about your brand or product category throughout New Zealand or the world.

Branding and graphic design

Visual communication is an important part of every marketing push. Our designs don't just look pretty, they do a job - whether that's connecting with consumers on an emotional level, or simply helping them intuitively navigate a new system.

Who we are

The Common Room was born from a desire to challenge the unwieldy, out-dated model of marketing being sold in various advertising, PR, or even digital shops around town. We're creating a faster, more agile way of doing things.

We start by gaining a true understanding of your business, your audience and market environment. We then draw from all the communications disciplines to develop strategies that solve problems and create opportunities - we don't just make ads because we're an ad agency or offer press coverage because we're a PR shop.

We tailor a suite of services for our clients, whether that's refining brand architecture, holding publicity-gathering events, or creating a cross platform social media campaign. Our collaborative approach means we can also work with other experts and companies on projects that require specialist skills.
